Villa Ott and the other beautiful villas in the Crespina countryside district, in Tuscany

22 Oct

The countryside area of Crespina and Tripalle has been very popular since the sixteenth century, when the noble families from Livorno and Pisa, started building their holidays villas.

villa-ott-vacavilla

The most important and well known ones are Villa Belvedere, Villa Corsini Valdisonzi, Villa Museo Calo Pepi e Villa Ott, with no doubt one of the most beautiful one.

Villa Ott was built by the architect Silvestro Donati in the seventeenth century, instead of the Mecherini noble families.

The villa has not a regular shape. The main façade looks at the hamlet of Tripalle and, in the past it was preciously painted decorated.

The villa has 3 differents levels and there are two entrances located on the on the two ailes of the villa, whilst in the middle there is the family crest.

The villa has been restored due to the damages suffered during the second world war, when the frecoes of Domenico Tempesti and Gabrielli went lost.

The villa has also the Saint Isidtro and della Madonna of the heart, completely rebuilt in 1768 over the ruins of an old church.

In front of the Chapel there is the farm with the little tower in neo-medieval style in 1881, built by the Ott fanily.

The park is done by non regular grasses and timber trees, according to the English trends, whilst the internal area consists in an Italian garden.

Museum civico Giovanni Fattori & the Macchiaioli – Livorno, Tuscany

23 Nov

The Macchiaioli  were a group of  Tuscany painters active in  the second half of the nineteenth century, who did much of their paintings outdoors to capture natural light, shade, and colour. This practices and technic relates the Macchiaioli to the French Impressionist who came to prominence a few years later, although the Macchiaioli pursued somewhat different purposes. The most representative artists of this movement were  Cristiano Banti, Odoardo Borrani, Vincenzo Cabianca, Giovanni Fattori, Raffaelle Sernesi, Silvestro Lega e Telemaco Signorini.
