Montaione is a village located in the Valdelsa district, a very beautiful part of Tuscany countryside. San Gimignano, Volterra, Castelfiorentino, Gambassi terme and San Miniato are the closest towns around.
The medieval village of Montaione is on the hills, and from there, many different unpaved scenic roads to reach San Gimignano, Volterra, Certaldo and Montespertoli, enjoying beautiful landscapes.

Every day it is possible to choose a different route: dirt trucks and single trails. One of these go through the Via Francigena, that moving From Montaione and following Via Santo Stefano until the valley of river Orlo. From here climbing to the Pieve di Coiano and start riding on the Via Francigena until to Gambassi Terme. From Gambassi Terme leaving the Via Francigena and get back to Montaione.
Montaione offers over than 10 trails with different difficulties and some organizations ready to provide guides, rentals, bicycle shops and repair shops.
