Florens 2012 – Culture is quality of life – Biennale Internazionale dei beni culturali e ambientali -From November 3 to 8

Florens is held every two years and is currently in its second edition. During the first edition in 2010, 9000 attendees were recorded at conferences, and 200.000 at the other events. Particular success was achieved by commemoration of the miracle of San Zanobi, involving the installation of a green lawn between the Duomo and the Baptistery and the revival of the dispute over the location of Michelangelo’s David.

The 2012 edition of Florens aims to unite organizations and individuals who deal with the relationship between economy and culture, and is convinced that long-term prospects for economic growth needs to be based  on the revitalization of culture.

This year the target in Florence is to develop ideas and innovative proposals, cultural institutions, banking foundations, companies and associations, and will involve the most important people, both Italians and foreigners, in the different fields of the economy of culture: opera theatres, film festivals, cultural entertainment, universities and research centers, publishing, art magazines, creative industries – from luxury crafts, to agribusiness design – art fairs, antique shops, museums and the most innovative elements of conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage and the landscape, companies and researchers working in the field of environmental technologies and smart cities. It is the combination of these themes, subjects and experiences which enhances quality of life and it is from this extraordinary heritage that we will be able to define a new model of development and new proposals for Italy, boosting economic growth in this necessary time.

The program of Florens 2012 will include the International Forum on Cultural and Environmental Heritage, more than 40 round tables and conferences, 7 keynotes, exhibitions, cultural aperitifs, musical events, installations and shows.
Some of the initiatives of the week are promoted and maintained by various qualified organizations that have signed partnership agreements with the Fondazione Florens.
The work of the experts will be followed and enriched by all interested parties who wish to participate with their own proposals providing the possibility to participate through social networks, and will involve 57 bloggers from all over the world.
